ExtensionBot Is Now Live on Numanac

We are proud to share that ExtensionBot is now live on Numanac.

ExtensionBot puts Extension Foundation resources at your fingertips, connected to your Numanac records. Once your farm records are on Numanac, ExtensionBot can reference them and answer your questions, grounded in research from the Cooperative Extension System.

What ExtensionBot does

ExtensionBot is an AI assistant built by the Extension Foundation, a nonprofit that has served the U.S. Cooperative Extension System since 2006. It answers questions using only research-verified Extension content, drawn from more than 40 institutions and organizations across Extension, and it links its answers back to the original sources (Extension Foundation).

On Numanac, ExtensionBot works alongside your records. Ask about a pest you logged last week, a block you scouted this morning, or a practice you are weighing. It answers in the context of your operation, grounded in Extension research.

Research that deserves to reach the field

As a founder, I know feature announcements can feel like shouts into the void. While building Numanac, countless Land-Grant University Extension programs have told us the same is true of their research. They put immense effort into work they know will help the growers they serve. Then it goes out into an attention economy that values noise over depth, and it gets lost.

Increasingly, our mission has taken shape around that problem: helping the research Extension programs produce reach the people it was written for, through Numanac. The best place for that research is next to the record of what is actually happening in the field.

Built around people

There is a lot of talk about robotics imminently taking over agriculture, about AI single-handedly operating a farm, and about many other aggressive projections. Most of them discount the complex, generational human relationships that sustain our rural communities.

Extension is one of those relationships. It has connected universities to growers for more than a century. We hope ExtensionBot is a step in the right direction: technology that carries trusted knowledge to the people making decisions, instead of trying to make the decisions for them.

Food safety starts with documentation

Recent events in the leafy greens industry are a reminder that documentation matters. When something goes wrong, the record of what happened in the field, and when, is what everyone has to rely on.

Through our partnership with Extension Foundation, Numanac brings leading Land-Grant University food-safety resources straight to growers and field scouts, free of charge. Log your fields by voice, and keep the guidance that keeps food systems safe one question away.
